How are they getting here
Young sea stars often swim to the surface of the ocean.
Big vessals and often shipping vessals are often the colporate,a single vessal can suck up to 70 tonnes of ballast water.
In 1993 a survay was conducted and 121 millon tons of ballast water was dumped into Australian ports.
Then the water is released into ports all over the world,
when they were first introduced in 1986 via ballast water, people thought they were native.
It was not until about 1992 people discovered they were threats. But by this stage it was to late,
they had already spread as far up as Phillip Bay in Victoria.
Internationaly in some countries they sterilize ballast water.
